“I never understood how food which is bad for the body can be good for the “soul”, especially when consumed not as an exception but rather as a rule. The fact is that food high in fat, seed oils, excessive carbs and sugar, all cooked at high temperatures (e.g. fried or excessively grilled) is not good for body health, including skin health and cellulite. Comfort food can potentially be wholesome if cooked with clean ingredients and in a healthy way but that requires a culture change away from our “just eat” takeaway culture and towards cooking at home with body health in mind - and such food is also good for the “soul”.”

Food “good for the soul”
Overcast weather In London most of the year, and at least in the winter in most places in the world quite often results in fatigue and low mood, which prompts us to consume more caffeine to stay stimulated and alert and fatty/sugary/stodgy food to derive comfort.
This sugar/caffeine rush may fight fatigue but they also increase the waistline, create lots of fresh cellulite and, ultimately, lead to exhaustion. This means more sugar, more caffeine and more fatty/sugary/stodgy “comfort” food, for a never ending vicious circle.
Not to mention all the “comforting” alcohol (well, more on that on another article)...
A little bit will not harm, but the fact is that continuous consumption of comfort food for years results in overweight, obesity, civilisation diseases and, yes, cellulite.
The same applies to the so-called “soul food” and street food, which usually mean fried, charred and smoked food comprising saturated fat, seed oils, sugar, lots of refined carbs and few vegetables - clearly not the best type of food for your blood vessels, brain, liver, joints, skin and, yes, cellulite again.
I do not understand what makes unhealthy food, cooked unhealthily, good for the “soul”. Yes, it is comforting and occasionally food comfort is important. But consuming comfort/soul/street food continuously - as many people do these days with London’s rampant takeaway “just eat” culture - is detrimental to health.
Indeed, ‘soul food’ and ‘street food’ played a role in the past, when people who mainly did heavy manual labour for a living needed a source of thousands of concentrated calories to get them through the day. In fact, millions of hard working people still depend on it today. It is not the healthiest food but provides needed calories.
Sure, these were/are still unhealthy calories but the amount and quality of fat, sugar, carbs and overall calories was/is partially compensated by the amount of manual labour (i.e. physical exercise) undertaken throughout the day.
Today, few of us work manually for 8 - let alone 12 or 16 - hours a day, so continuously consuming fatty/sugary/starchy/calorific food, all fried up and quite often smoked up and charred up makes no sense: it can only cause damage to our whole body health, skin health and thigh and butt health and appearance (i.e. cellulite).
Sure, occasionally eaten street/comfort/’soul’ food - can be relatively healthy, especially when made with fresh, ‘clean’ ingredients and cooked without frying, charring or smoking but this is usually the exception rather than the rule.
How Western diet and lifestyle causes cellulite
The effect is always the same: adhering to the typical Western diet, activity patterns, stress and lifestyle (which more and more people around the world do, even in developing nations), has a negative effect on overall health, and specifically on the skin.
Metabolic inflammation, oxidative damage, poor circulation, glycation are all hallmarks of this lifestyle and are directly responsible for cellulite, skin laxity, water retention and skin ageing.
Have a treatment in London with the cellulite experts
At LipoTherapeia we have specialised 100% in skin tightening and cellulite reduction for more than two decades and 20,000+ sessions.
This is all we study and practise every day and have researched and tried hands-on all the important skin tightening equipment and their manufacturers.
As strong, deep acting radiofrequency and deep-acting, high-power ultrasound cavitation are the technologies of choice for skin tightening and cellulite reduction, we have invested in the best RF/ultrasound technologies in the world.
(Of course, we keep looking for new technologies every day and if/when a better technology materialises we will be the first to provide it. However, we will never follow the latest ineffective gimmick, just because it’s good marketing to offer the latest hyped up - yet ineffective and/or unsafe treatment.)
Furthermore, over the last two decades we have developed advanced RF and cavitation treatment protocols in order to make the most of our technologies, for maximum results, naturally and safely.
And for even better, faster results, we now combine our RF/ultrasound treatments with high-power red/infrared light LED treatment.
Our radiofrequency/ultrasound/LED treatments are comfortable, pain-free, downtime-free, injection-free, 99.5%+ safe and always non-invasive.
(No unsafe and ineffective RF microneedling or HIFU and no safe but ineffective acoustic wave therapy, superficial RF (bipolar/tripolar/multipolar etc), low power RF/cavitation, electrical muscle stimulation, lymphatic massage, cupping, dry brushing and no ridiculous bum bum creams.)
Our focus is on honest, realistic, science-based treatment, combined with caring, professional service, with a smile.
We will be pleased to see you, assess your cellulite, skin laxity or fibrosis, listen to your story, discuss your case and offer you the best possible treatment.
