“After specialising in cellulite for the last 24+ years and after seeing thousands of clients, I can safely say that sugar is the number one cause of cellulite today. When combined with excess fat and carbs, sugar is even worse and and three comprise the so-called cafeteria diet. The cafeteria diet is the basis of food given to lab mice and rats in order to cause them metabolic dysfunction, obesity and diabetes and test new drugs. So everyone who consumes a cafeteria diet is in essence a lab rat bred to develop obesity and metabolic dysfunction, and consequently diabetes, heart disease and a host of other degenerative civilisation diseases. Given these facts then what should TV shows that glorify the cafeteria diet be called? ”

There is no need to mindlessly consume (and advertise the consumption of) so much starch, fat and sugar
Carb, fat, sugar, fat, carb, sugar, sugar, fat, carb - and then some alcohol too: how our the bottomless bubbly afternoon tea and great british bake off obsession can result in obesity and diabetes - and yes, skin aging and cellulite too
As if metabolic inflammation, insulin resistance, diabetes, overweight and obesity (not to mention cellulite, the subject of this website) were not bad enough in London and the UK in general, the last few years we have seen the rise of the ‘afternoon tea culture’, complete with bottomless prosecco offers and, of course, “The Great Diabetes Bake Off” (excuse me, I meant to say ‘The Great British Bake Off’), which has indoctrinated an entire generation to produce - and inevitably consume - vast quantities of stodgy, fattening and unhealthy nutritional junk.
Indeed, the definition of junk food is food rich in fat, sugar and refined starch, so whichever way you dress a pig (fancily named Battenberg cakes or Angel slices, as opposed to burger and fries), it still remains a pig.
Afternoon tea food may comprise 80% of refined starch, fat and sugar, with perhaps some semblance of protein and a couple of leaves included, but the GBBO bakes are 95% refined starch, fat and lots and lots and lots of sugar, with a huge variety of cute or fancy names. Here’s a very, very limited list (there are hundreds of combinations of sugary, starchy and fatty creations presented on the show):
Victoria sponge, gala pie, white chocolate tart, school cake & custard, glazed doughnuts, chocolate caramel hobnobs, raspberry & almond fondant fancies, passion fruit & raspberry cheesecakes, lambeth style cake, raspberry ripple flapjack, chocolate finger biscuits, piggy sausage roll wreath, savoury picnic pie (shortcrust), swiss roll, cherry cake, cakes (miniature classics), battenberg cake, tiered celebration cake, tarte au citron, mini sweet tartlets, apple & cinnamon cupcakes, lemon meringue cupcakes, chocolate tiered cake, focaccia, brandy snaps, miniature sweet tarts, mini chocolate and cherry cakes, miniature british cakes, gluten-free loaves, dacquoise, vegetable cakes, angel food cake, english muffin, floating islands, egg custard tarts, tuiles, apricot couronne, religieuses, hazelnut dacquoise, charlotte royal, pretzels, cherry cake, florentines, ciabatta, tiramisu cake, mini pear pies, prinsesstarta, kouign-amann, provitica, schichttorte, frosted walnut layer cake, ariettes, baguettes, spanische windtorte, flaounes, victorian tennis cake, mokatines, chocolate soufflé, jaffa cakes, viennese whirls, dampfnudel, lace pancakes, bakewell tart, fresh herb fougasse, marjolaine, jumble biscuits, savarin, fondant fancies, angel slices, fig rolls, white burger baps, maids of honour, beignet soufflés, verrines, sicilian cassatelles, moroccan pie, gâteau saint honoré, stilton soufflés, mini pineapple upside down cakes, coconut macaroons, rainbow bagels, chocolate babka, raspberry éclairs, matcha crepe cake, custard & jam doughnuts, sussex pond puddings, danish kransekake, walnut whirls, malt loaf, sandwiched jammy biscuit, cheese & onion ciabatta breadsticks, sticky toffee pudding, prinzregententorte, baklava, caramel biscuit bars, vegan sausage rolls, sablé breton tart, chocolate fudge cake, devonshire splits, caramelised white chocolate & blackcurrant cheesecakes, dauphinoise potato & caramelised onion pithivier, lemon & thyme bundt and many, many, many more (this list is based on chatgpt and therefore prone to include some hallucinations but the fact is that the list of sugar, fat and refined starch creations is endless).
Isn’t it amazing how creative people are in their quest of accumulating fat and getting diabetes? Imagine if people managed to put all that creativity into making amazing nutritionally balanced salads; or stews; or soups; or lightly grilled/poached dishes; or baked dishes; or other healthy dishes that actually help people lose weight; shake off metabolic inflammation, insulin resistance and diabetes; and yes, why not, reduce cellulite?
The Great British Salad Off
How about broadcasting a ‘Great British Salad Off’ (I know, there must be a better name for it), where people would channel all their energy and creativity and inspire other people to make beautiful, wholesome and delicious food and be healthy and lose weight without Ozempic and Mounjaro?
Given that we can use more than 50+ vegetables, 50+ herbs and spices, 30+ types of nuts and seeds, 10+ types of healthy oils and fats and another 30+ types of protein, the amazingly looking, tasty and healthy salad combinations can run into the millions - just like the combinations of fat, sugar and stodge.
All that is needed is some human energy and creativity, the result of which will not burden the NHS but actually save it from collapse.
The Royal Road to Diabetes, obesity - and indeed cellulite - with refined starch, refined fat and lot and lots of sugar
Indeed I find the broadcast of this show an abomination in a country where the NHS budget is projected to ballon to 39.8 billion in the next 10 years (2035) under the weight of diabetes, obesity and all sorts of degenerative diseases that stem from obesity and diabetes:
Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, coronary artery disease, hypertension, congestive heart failure, stroke, aortic aneurysm, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), chronic kidney disease (CKD), polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), osteoarthritis, gout, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic nephropathy, infertility, obstructive sleep apnea, obesity hypoventilation syndrome, pulmonary hypertension, cancer and many, many more
And yes, at the aesthetic level, we also have metabolic inflammation, insulin resistance and weight gain also results in whole body skin ageing, microcirculation impairment, water retention and cellulite.
I know I do sound like a spoilsport but what is so good about this mass indoctrination of an entire nation to consume - and to learn how to make - diabetes producing food 40 times a year - including celebrity bake off etc? Sure, it’s an unintentional indoctrination indeed, but it is still mass indoctrination. And what’s with the junior bake off, as if the UK does not have a huge childhood obesity problem already?
And this is not harmless fun. Governments around the world restrict junk food advertising on TV and then junk food cooking shows are allowed for the whole family to watch. It doesn’t make sense.
If I watch a travel TV show I will want to travel; if I watch a motoring TV show I will be more keen to buy a new car; and if I watch a TV show with lots of amazingly looking sugar/fat/stodge-rich food I will want to consume or even make my own amazingly looking sugar/fat/stodge-rich food. That’s how TV works.
A little bit of such food is obviously absolutely fine but a lot of it, as encouraged by such shows, is widely known to result in metabolic inflammation, oxidative damage and glycation on every single cell of our body.
I mean, for us specialising in cellulite, shows like that are a great way to get an endless supply of clients forever. The more people watch The ‘Royal Road to Diabetes’ (sorry, the ‘Great British Diabetes Off’, sorry, ‘The Great British Bake Off’), the more they will develop lots of cellulite, skin ageing and skin laxity. Not bad…
But someone has to say it like it is, as no-one in our industry does - they prefer to focus on silly tiktok BS reels promoting miracle lunchtime cellulite “cures”…
How Western diet and lifestyle causes cellulite
The effect is always the same: adhering to the typical Western diet, physical activity patterns, stress and lifestyle (which more and more people around the world do, even in developing nations), has a negative effect on overall health, and specifically on the skin.
Metabolic inflammation, oxidative damage, poor circulation, glycation are all hallmarks of this lifestyle and are directly responsible for cellulite, skin laxity, water retention and skin ageing.
Have a treatment in London with the cellulite experts
At LipoTherapeia we have specialised 100% in skin tightening and cellulite reduction for more than two decades and 20,000+ sessions.
This is all we study and practise every day and have researched and tried hands-on all the important skin tightening equipment and their manufacturers.
As strong, deep acting radiofrequency and deep-acting, high-power ultrasound cavitation are the technologies of choice for skin tightening and cellulite reduction, we have invested in the best RF/ultrasound technologies in the world.
(Of course, we keep looking for new technologies every day and if/when a better technology materialises we will be the first to provide it. However, we will never follow the latest ineffective gimmick, just because it’s good marketing to offer the latest hyped up - yet ineffective and/or unsafe treatment.)
Furthermore, over the last two decades we have developed advanced RF and cavitation treatment protocols in order to make the most of our technologies, for maximum results, naturally and safely.
And for even better, faster results, we now combine our RF/ultrasound treatments with high-power red/infrared light LED treatment.
Our radiofrequency/ultrasound/LED treatments are comfortable, pain-free, downtime-free, injection-free, 99.5%+ safe and always non-invasive.
(No unsafe and ineffective RF microneedling or HIFU and no safe but ineffective acoustic wave therapy, superficial RF (bipolar/tripolar/multipolar etc), low power RF/cavitation, electrical muscle stimulation, lymphatic massage, cupping, dry brushing and no ridiculous bum bum creams.)
Our focus is on honest, realistic, science-based treatment, combined with caring, professional service, with a smile.
We will be pleased to see you, assess your cellulite, skin laxity or fibrosis, listen to your story, discuss your case and offer you the best possible treatment.
