“Blue light LED therapy is specifically used for acne and psoriasis, ideally in combination with red and infrared, and in many cases it is more effective than other, more expensive and quite often invasive treatments and definitely a whole lot gentler and safer.”

Blue LED light treatment for acne and psoriasis
Blue light LED treatment is mainly used for acne reduction and psoriasis.
In regard to acne, blue light acts on porphyrins inside bacteria (including the Cutibacterium acnes bacteria, which cause most forms of acne), to inactivate them.
Blue light is ideally combined with red and infrared light, which are known to stimulate skin healing and balance skin metabolism. The combination reduces acne and heals the acne scars.
Mild, moderate and severe acne can be treated with carefully selected intensities of blue / red / infrared wavelengths, either alone or in combination with other treatments.
The benefit of LED therapy is that it is very safe, especially with good equipment and a well-trained therapist, as opposed to more aggressive treatments, such as lasers, peeling, microneedling etc.
What results should I expect with blue / red / infrared light therapy for mild, moderate or severe acne?
At the clinic we have seen quite severe acne calm down and improve in appearance and aggressiveness with just one session and also improve long-term with a course of treatments (typically 8-16).
For permanent results a change in diet is essential (basically no dairy, sugar, fried food, less saturated fats and starches and more vegetables and omega-3s).
For more severe cases more aggressive medical treatment may be needed.
Light intensity and wavelength are important
As the blue light required for this purpose is very close to UV (we use the proven 415nm wavelength at the clinic), it is important to have treatment with a high-end machine, to ensure wavelength accuracy.
Low-end machines quite often do not emit the stated wavelength and can easily veer into UV territory, which is not very wise.
Blue light intensity is also important. It should not be too strong, as that would be irritating, neither too light, as that would be ineffective. So therapist training is as important as equipment.
The same comments about intensity and wavelength accuracy also apply to red and infrared: low-end machines may provide only a fraction of the intensity stated and could veer off significantly off the wavelength stated. So choose your clinic carefully.
Blue light therapy has also been proven to help with psoriasis (also in combination with carefully selected red and infrared light intensities) and in many cases it is a better choice than UV, with its known skin health dangers.

Have a treatment in London with the cellulite experts
At LipoTherapeia we have specialised 100% in skin tightening and cellulite reduction for more than two decades and 20,000+ sessions.
This is all we study and practise every day and have researched and tried hands-on all the important skin tightening equipment and their manufacturers.
As strong, deep acting radiofrequency and deep-acting, high-power ultrasound cavitation are the technologies of choice for skin tightening and cellulite reduction, we have invested in the best RF/ultrasound technologies in the world.
(Of course, we keep looking for new technologies every day and if/when a better technology materialises we will be the first to provide it. However, we will never follow the latest ineffective gimmick, just because it’s good marketing to offer the latest hyped up - yet ineffective and/or unsafe treatment.)
Furthermore, over the last two decades we have developed advanced RF and cavitation treatment protocols in order to make the most of our technologies, for maximum results, naturally and safely.
And for even better, faster results, we now combine our RF/ultrasound treatments with high-power red/infrared light LED treatment.
Our radiofrequency/ultrasound/LED treatments are comfortable, pain-free, downtime-free, injection-free, 99.5%+ safe and always non-invasive.
(No unsafe and ineffective RF microneedling or HIFU and no safe but ineffective acoustic wave therapy, superficial RF (bipolar/tripolar/multipolar etc), low power RF/cavitation, electrical muscle stimulation, lymphatic massage, cupping, dry brushing and no ridiculous bum bum creams.)
Our focus is on honest, realistic, science-based treatment, combined with caring, professional service, with a smile.
We will be pleased to see you, assess your cellulite, skin laxity or fibrosis, listen to your story, discuss your case and offer you the best possible treatment.
