How often should you do red light therapy for weight loss?

I have been long enough (24+ years) in this industry to recognise BS, simply because the beauty / nutrition / complementary health sectors are full of BS. During that time I researched and studied the biophysics of everything to do with fat loss reduction technologies, including speaking to real (and honest) experts in this field and I would be the first to use a weight loss laser/LED machine if it worked. Who doesn’t want to offer such an amazing treatment to their clients, if it existed? Imagine, you lie down for 12x 20-minute sessions on a bed, you are ‘scanned’ by some pathetically low power laser, you feel absolutely nothing, and in true Star Trek style 12 weeks laser you are slimmer. But, sorry to burst your bubble, such a thing does not exist (how gullible can people be?), regardless of what stupid AI chatbots say, with all their clinical experience of living inside a silicon chip, not in the real world with real human beings in front of them, and based on fake so-called research studies.

Red light therapy and weight loss

How often to have have red light therapy and how much weight will I lose?

Never and none. It doesn’t matter how often you have red light therapy - you will NOT lose any weight.

Sure, there are a few research papers which report weight loss and even “trusted” sites like Healthline fall for them. But that is because the writers of those “trusted” websites quite often have no technical expertise, insider knowledge of the industry or clinical experience themselves to assess what is real and what is fake in specific sectors - in this case the quite often unscrupulous aesthetic equipment manufacturer industry.

The same applies to ChatGPT and other AI ‘chatterbots’ (pun intended) which just regurgitate what has been fed to them (in this case, fake studies).

But in real life, in the real reality, you cannot lose weight with red or infrared light therapy. It doesn’t happen.

So, to answer the question, it doesn’t matter how many red light therapy sessions you have per week or in total, you will not lose any weight.

Red light therapy may improve overall health but…

Sure, red light therapy may improve your overall health if treatment with proper equipment is received - and definitely not with the low spec lasers used for the main studies which “report” 😅 weight loss.

So if improved overall health means more exercise and perhaps more discipline with food, then yes, red light therapy can - very indirectly - lead to some minor weight loss.

But that would be the fruit of your effort, not the red light LED/laser machine’s. And, of course, improved health does not result only by having red light therapy. Sleeping well, eating healthily and exercising, they automatically lead to improved health and - who would have thought? - weight loss at the same time.

In summary, don’t expect to lose tons of weight just by lying down and having red light treatments - especially not with the low spec lasers used in the studies.

(Red light therapy can indeed help maximise the effectiveness of other localised treatments, such as radiofrequency or ultrasound, when used right after them - but it does not on its own lead to fat loss or weight loss.)

Moral of the story: don’t believe everything you read - even research papers. A lot of those research papers in the beauty / nutrition / complementary health sectors are not worth the paper they are written on and are financed, controlled and manipulated by manufacturers in those industries.

This whole thing reminds me of those nutritional supplements that are sold to the naive and the gullible as nature’s Ozempic and which simply don’t work.

In fact, if a supplement worked nearly as well as Ozempic it would also have Ozempic’s side effects (actually there are quite a few such supplements which have pretty bad side effects and still no weight loss effectiveness). But that’s another discussion…

Quick answers to frequently asked questions

Does red light therapy work for weight loss? Can red light therapy help you lose weight

As explained above, nope. If people could lose weight with red light therapy instead of risking side effects with GLP1-RA drugs people would do that. But red light therapy for weight loss does not exist - not on this planet anyway...

How much weight can you lose with red light therapy?

None, as explained above.

Red light therapy weight loss before and after benefits

As explained above, there are no such benefits, don’t waste your time, energy and money.

Have a treatment in London with the cellulite experts

At LipoTherapeia we have specialised 100% in skin tightening and cellulite reduction for more than two decades and 20,000+ sessions.

This is all we study and practise every day and have researched and tried hands-on all the important skin tightening equipment and their manufacturers.

As strong, deep acting radiofrequency and deep-acting, high-power ultrasound cavitation are the technologies of choice for skin tightening and cellulite reduction, we have invested in the best RF/ultrasound technologies in the world.

(Of course, we keep looking for new technologies every day and if/when a better technology materialises we will be the first to provide it. However, we will never follow the latest ineffective gimmick, just because it’s good marketing to offer the latest hyped up - yet ineffective and/or unsafe treatment.)

Furthermore, over the last two decades we have developed advanced RF and cavitation treatment protocols in order to make the most of our technologies, for maximum results, naturally and safely.

And for even better, faster results, we now combine our RF/ultrasound treatments with high-power red/infrared light LED treatment.

Our radiofrequency/ultrasound/LED treatments are comfortable, pain-free, downtime-free, injection-free, 99.5%+ safe and always non-invasive.

(No unsafe and ineffective RF microneedling or HIFU and no safe but ineffective acoustic wave therapy, superficial RF (bipolar/tripolar/multipolar etc), low power RF/cavitation, electrical muscle stimulation, lymphatic massage, cupping, dry brushing and no ridiculous bum bum creams.)

Our focus is on honest, realistic, science-based treatment, combined with caring, professional service, with a smile.

We will be pleased to see you, assess your cellulite, skin laxity or fibrosis, listen to your story, discuss your case and offer you the best possible treatment.
